Hi
Suppose we have to design for a 10A output from half bridge converter. We normally use high frequency double diode as rectifier with centre tape secondary. Does we need a 5A+5A (i.e. 5A per diode) double diode for that or a 10A+10A (i.e. 10A per diode) double diode

Thanks. Does that mean for half bridge operating at 50% maximum duty cycle, for 10A output current the rms current of each diode will be
Irms = 10 * square root of 0.5
Irms = 7.07 Amperes
and with 20% margin Irms will be
Irms = (0.2 * 7.07) + 7.07
Irms = 8.48 Amperes

Thus we will need a double diode with rating of 8.48A + 8.48A (i.e. 8.48A per diode)

Half bridge output diodes will only see 5A each average current if it is operated at 50% duty cycle other wise . You need to look at RMS current requirement for the diodes. then you will put at least 20-30% margin on the top of it. One thing for sure they will not be 5A 5A rating ,,
