Job Description:
Reporting to President and COO, the VP of Engineering will be responsible for all elements of Power Systems Management product definition, development and final roll-out from a technology standpoint. The VP of Engineering will manage a team of approximately 40 experienced engineers in Bellingham and smaller teams in Vancouver B.C. and China. These teams are comprised of mechanical engineers, electronic designers, and hardware and software/firmware engineers.
As a senior member of the management team, the VP of Engineering will be expected to participate in the formulation of company strategy, and together with other leaders in the execution of that strategy through day-to-day management of the engineering team.

Skills
1. Power Systems Management, AD & DC UPS Systems, renewable energy, solar.
2. 10+ years' technology management experience.
3. 3+ years experience running stand-alone product development groups within a division or inside a smaller company.
4. BSEE and advanced degree desirable.

Expertise to develop and lead a Top Rated mixed-technology product development groups. For this role, we are highly focused on senior managers who have built and managed groups of greater than 40 people, ideally groups tasked with building systems with hardware, software and complex electronic components.

We seek a candidate with extensive knowledge of Power Electronics in the broadband telecom and renewable energy industry, specifically solar energy. Understanding the issues around integrating hardware and software/firmware is critical. We require international experience managing diverse teams with high volume manufacturing.

The Vice President of Engineering will work closely with other organizations within the Alpha Group, interfacing with product management, manufacturing, sales, marketing and finance. A full understanding of the commercial/business side of engineering, product development and manufacturing is essential.
