Job Description:
Alpha Technologies, provider of world-class powering solutions, seeks a Senior Applications Engineer. The desired location for this position is in the Phoenix, AZ area, but qualified candidates living elsewhere and wishing to work from their home office are invited to apply.

Summary:
Support Project Managers and the Sales staff with solar electric system designs, layout drawings, product quotations, and applications specific technical information. Review system designs and drawings for accuracy, completeness and code compliance. Design and implement internal processes including ETO's, SAP quotation activity and technical product and system training sessions.

Essential Responsibilities:
Correspond with customers and the sales organization through verbal and written communication in response to customer requests for product use information including: specifications, capabilities, compatibility, interface and general technology.
Interface with Engineering, Customer Service, Tech Pubs, Product Management, IT and Sales and Marketing to facilitate the flow of appropriate technical information and to arrange the information in a useable format.
Develop and provide quotations to worldwide customer base and sales reps.
Evaluate product proposals, sales requests for new or special products, and coordinate with Product Management, APG, Engineering and Program Management for resolution.
Participate in and prepare technical/application oriented presentations for customer presentations and training.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems, complaints, questions, including interaction with Customer Service, Sustaining Engineering, Product Management and Sales, but maintains the primary responsibility for resolution.

Additional Responsibilities:

Participate in Sales/Representative meetings and trade shows to provide technical training on Alpha products.
Conduct AE technical training for lower level staff members to enhance technical coverage of the Alpha product line.
Assist other Alpha Energy Applications Engineers with training, mentoring and review of their work as necessary.

Required Qualifications:
Education:

2 year degree (or equivalent military training).
AA/AAS degree, Electronics/Technician Certificate from an accredited technical source.
4 year degree BSEE is a plus.

Experience:
6 - 8 years in solar electricity with a strong emphasis on customer interaction, electrical design or support experience and a working knowledge of either renewable energy systems both grid tied and off grid.

PC Application Skills:
Intermediate: Comfortable with most applications of the following: AutoCad, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio, Solar Simulation Programs.

Travel Requirements:
Expected 10 - 25%
